Goffstown was incorporated as a town in 1761. Named after an early settler, Colonel John Goffe, it was originally a farm community.

Lovers of nature can go boating and fishing in nearby lakes and rivers, hiking in the local woods or in the White Mountains just an hour away. Businesspeople will appreciate the proximity of the state’s largest airport in Manchester. Goffstown is also a great base for antique hunting along picturesque roads and small New Hampshire towns.

Nearby Saint Anselm College is a real asset to the community, offering a variety of cultural events.

Goffstown is blessed with an active Historical Society. The late Gardner Lamson, founder of Lamson Apartments, was a founder and first president of the society. He donated historic documents and memorabilia to the society, as well as a vintage, fully functional toy train set in an elaborate, handcrafted, miniaturized landscape.
